Taping up, 8:45 a.m., last weekend of winter.
Bill attaching his skins to his boards. Mike looks on.
We lounged, enjoyed a cup of hot tea, welcomed the heat of the pot belly stove. What luxury!
David was very hospitable.
David and his son, caretakers of the hut for the weekend.
Tough Mike kicking steps. Getting close to the top of the bowl.
Bill carrying his boards up the steep section of the bowl.
We took a break just below the top of bowl and balked at the idea of going to the summit given the poor visibility. We decided to go for it anyway. Glad we did.
Mike and Bill on the summit in whiteout conditions. Because of the icy conditions, Bill stashed his skies below the summit. He skied down the chute we hiked up.
Near the base of the bowl. Phil blew his whistle at intervals to guide us to this spot.
The Hut caretakers, David and his sun on the left.
The bowl. Socked in all day.
At the base of the bowl.
Paul and Rick hiking out.
No hands boulder?
We love our log.
